B1: Higher Education
Higher Education
One of the biggest helps in researching university courses, apprenticeship options etc. has been UCAS. The new hub feature allows you to keep your favourite courses, universities, locations etc. in one place, helps build your personal statement, calculates UCAS points and so much more. I have always been 50/50 on the idea of university, but hopefully through this research, I will be able to discover exactly what it is I want to be doing or what may not be the best option for me. So far on my academic search, courses that appeal to me include anything to do with radio, theatre, TV and film. Although these are still broad areas, searching for courses allows me to see what interests me throughout different courses and universities.
To kickstart my research, one thing I do know is that I would not like to be too far from home, as I am undecided whether I would want to move out or not. This narrows down my searches as I can look at local universities and see if what they offer can cater to my aspirations.
The first course I came across that appealed to me is the "Film, TV & Theatre Production" course at The Northern School of Art, based in Hartlepool. The key aspects to this course are that the university itself is not too far and it covers film, TV and theatre which are three things I love. As I am not entirely set on a specific career or path, I think a broad course like this that covers a lot of different subjects would be perfect.
