B1: Mock Interview Preparing

Image
Mock Interview Preparing Practice Media company- BBC -They provide news based on British Values of accuracy, impartiality and fairness. Their website states they want to bring news to "help people understand and engage with the world around them" -The BBC wants to reflect the UK, its culture and values to the world -They put their audience at the heart of everything they do Their interviews (usually with 2 or 3 BBC workers) want to know all about your skills, achievements and behaviours. To help prepare us for the mock interviews, which are part of our personal progression unit, we were given the chance to write an example answer in response to the statement 'Give an example of a time you worked in a team'. A way to format answers, is using the STAR method. This entails including the situation (the event/project that affiliates with the question, the task (the assignments that were needed to complete this), the action (what took place to amend the situation) and the ...

B1: Final Website Design

Final Website Design After the feedback I received from my peers on my Google Form, this is the final version of my website  . Taking suggestions from my peers, I added an "Industry Inspirations" section to my "About Me" page and my LinkedIn to the "Contact" page. I decided to update my website with these additions as my peers' opinions are important, due to them knowing what they would like to see out of a website. These suggestions allow the viewer of my website to become more knowledgable on who I am and how they can find me.

B1: Website Feedback

Image
Website Feedback Once completing all areas of my website design, I sent out a Google Form to my peers, to collect feedback that could improve my website further. These were the results: Website feedback from LucyMartin46 To sum up the feedback, most of my peers suggested adding inspirations within industry and adding more contact information, such as my LinkedIn. These would be good additions to my website, as it gives more of an insight to who I aspire to be like and who has shaped me into the person I am / would like to be. Adding my LinkedIn will provoke a sense of professionalism, as it shows I am willing to connect with those in industry. This is what my "About Me" page looks like so far. It does give a bit of insight to who I am as a media student, but not much about my aspirations within the media industry. Taking on my peers' suggestions will bring this section a bit of life and provide more information about me. Here is my updated 'About M...

B1: Developing my website

Image
Developing my website   Once designing my logo and business cards, I am beginning to research other websites and compile inspirations. This includes designs and the content that will be produced from the website. Curating what my likes and dislikes are and planning what I aim to include in my own, will benefit me in the creating stages.    To aid in my own website building, I used this website , which allowed me to explore various different people, whether in the industry or not, and how they present themselves and their skills. As they ranked each one, I was able to see what is desirable in a website or what does not work as well. It was common to see personal work experiences, achievements and skills, with the best ones being displayed through " simple, clean, and calming" designs". As these are real-life people in the work force, it is interesting to see how they make connections and get themselves out there.

B1: Showreel Feedback

Showreel Feedback Once completing my showreel, I created a Google Forms to gather feedback and see what my peers liked about it, or what could be improved. Here are the results: Show reel feedback from LucyMartin46 The main points raised were that the music fitted the clips well and that it was on brand with my logo, showing off my skills well. The third response mentioned that it is "all the same aspect ratio" which was something I was aiming for when making my showreel. Previously, this problem has arose when I was using Adobe Premier Pro, therefore I am glad I chose iMovie as this problem could be eliminated. Although I appreciated this feedback, there were no areas touched on that I could try and improve.  Evaluation of my product: I am extremely happy with my end product and do think it is a nice representation of my best work, set out in an organised way, that still keeps to my brand identity. The feedback I received helped solidify some doubts that I had, whi...

B1: Creating Showreel

Creating Showreel I knew that I initially wanted to create my showreel on Adobe Premiere Pro, as it was something I had experience using throughout my time on this course. Although problems of the software previously had included crashing and not saving work, so I took to it with extra precaution. This included frequently saving, having at least two places for it to be saved. As I had problems with having to recreate my logo, I decided to create it on iMovie, which would allow me to work on it from home and not have to rely on lesson time to create it. The first step I took in creating my own showreel, was finding a suitable piece of music to accompany my projects. As previously found, the best music for this, in my opinion was upbeat and energetic, yet not overpowering.  This powerpoint outlines the choices I made and how I came to do so.

B1: Showreel Design Research

Image
Showreel Design Research To start with my showreel research, I took to YouTube to try and spot common themes throughout each one.  Upon my research, I found a playlist of other Year 2 Level 3 Media students' showreels. This was beneficial to my own, as I could apply or differ from the running themes of these videos.   Most of them included: Upbeat, energetic music Short snippets of each project spread out, to keep the attention of the audience Subtitles explaining each project Personal / business logo's to present each video These points make an effective showreel as the correct music is so important. Although the focal point of the video is the showcase of projects, having extravagant or inappropriate  music will not aid in the effectiveness of a showreel. This is due to the requirement of grasping the attention of the audience, which may be faltered by the wrong music choice. A common theme throughout these showreel's in particular is that they present thei...

B1: Designing a Business Card

Image
Designing a Business Card Making a business card was fairly easy to do. As I had established a style and colour scheme through my logo design, this then got the ball rolling as I could create something that includes my logo and sticks to my established look. To kickstart the process, I googled ‘How to make a business card on Photoshop’ to see if there were any tutorials to make the process easier.   This website was particularly helpful and I liked the idea of adding margins. When researching into logos, there were a couple of designs that included dots, but I could not find anywhere to incorporate these into my logo. Therefore, I made this into the border of the front of my business card. Although I am sure there was an easier way to achieve this, I used the pen tool and the ruler tool to draw dots along the margins. The outcome was mostly successful. The dots were not always even but I liked that they were almost handmade and imperfect. To complete the front of my log...
